Evidence against the bible?
With so much historical evidence that doesn't seem to match up with stories in the bible how can Christians believe in it?
This is a good question and one which is asked a lot and has many different answers. My personal theory on this is related to the master of lies, the devil.
Although all Christians believe in Satan he is rarely mentioned. However, to fully understand the love and grace of God you need to realise that the
Prince of Darkness, no not Ozzy Osbourne, will do everything he can to hide the truth.
David Copperfield, the famous TV illusionist, uses smoke and mirrors to fool the human brain into seeing, or not seeing, what he wants the
viewer to see. Now I'm not trying to liken David Copperfield with Satan but the idea is the same. The best way to hide the truth is to make
you believe you are seeing facts. To get your head round this you need to open your mind and start thinking not in human capabilities but in spiritual capabilities.
For those now rolling round the floor laughing please don't stop reading yet and just give me a few more minutes. Lets imagine that Satan is a human being who is
pure evil and to get people to follow him he is not going to promote himself by selling his evil plans instead he will give some spin to make it sound good.
For example, which of the below would interest you:
Satan's Advert 1
"Sleep with loads to people to make people respect you and wish they were you. Plus why use any sort of protection as you will lose respect. What better way to end a
night on the town than in bed with a stranger."
Satan's Advert 2
"Sleeping with loads of people will give you a bad reputation which is very difficult to shake off. Plus not using protection can give you nasty and in some fatal
diseases. Would you eat something that you didn't know where it had been?"
Which would you choose?
So now we can picture this pure evil person who is wanting you to follow him instead of pure goodness. He is going to do anything he can to draw your attention to
his lies rather then the truth. Now ask yourself, is Satan making you believe that the bible is inaccurate? Don't follow the crowd and just say yes, think about what
has been said above.
Unfortunately some of you will just dismiss the above, after-all it is "un-cool" to believe in God and the bible. However I pray that just 1 person stops and thinks
about this and starts asking more questions.
